Bill Groff
for Mayor

FAMILY HISTORY: Bill grew up in Bellmawr, in a blue-collar household and has lived here for some 55 years. His father, William L. Groff, was a well-known mechanic and Parts Department manager at Crisconi Oldsmobile in South Philadelphia and was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union for more than 40 years; his grandfather helped to establish Valdez Foods in 1936.

STRONG ETHICAL VALUES:  Bill was raised to believe that hard work pays off and giving back to your community is the right thing to do, Bill attributes his character and values to the Bellmawr School System. Bill attended Bellmawr Park, Bell Oaks Elementary, and Triton High School, where he graduated class of 1982. He went on to attend Widener University and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. He has spent 30 years in senior management roles in the Industrial Insurance and pharmaceutical industries, during which time, he has consistently been promoted to new levels of responsibility and is called upon to resolve difficult problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bill brings a wealth of managerial experience to Mayoral Office of Bellmawr Borough. Over the years, he has managed multiple manufacturing sites, leading hundreds of employees in union and non-union environments. He is successfully negotiated union labor contracts and created, balanced, and been accountable for budgets exceeding $100 million. While working with these enormous budgets, Bill has consistently kept projects financially sound. As Mayor, he is poised to lead Bellmawr through aging infrastructure upgrades that are desperately needed in this community and to keep costs in line. Bill holds several industrial licenses, including: Industrial Wastewater, Red Seal Boiler, and Blue Seal Refrigeration.

COMMITMENT TO HARD WORK: As a Mayor, Bill’s experience is a “must” as he has 30+ years of managing internationally - diverse work teams from different cultures and languages. His experience covers working with the FDA, the DEA, the European Union’s pharmaceutical agency and many other government agencies, especially on construction and redevelopment projects. Bill is a results-focused, roll-up-the-shirtsleeves executive manager who is energized by challenges. Due to his reputation in the industry as a troubleshooter, he has repeatedly been sought out to navigate and lead companies through the most complex problems and crucial performance improvement initiatives, including: optimizing productivity, improving safety, decreasing costs, increasing profits, extending market reach and strengthening teamwork.

BILL HAS A ‘TAKE CHARGE’ ATTITUDE AND CAN LEAD OUR COMMUNITY:
Aging Infrastructure: Bellmawr’s infrastructure is 50+ years old. Cancer-causing materials have been found in the water system, yet it was not until Bill filed an Open Records Request that it disclosed Borough officials had filed documents attempting to delay notification to citizens.  This is not transparency in government.  Our residents deserve better than this. Bill holds a New Jersey State Industrial Water Treatment License which gives him qualifications to oversee Bellmawr’s long outdated water system upgrades and improvements and to monitor any costs associated with it.

PHILANTHROPY:
Bill has a long history of giving-back to the Bellmawr community and putting a smile on the faces of children. He has been a proud sponsor of Bellmawr Youth Soccer, Bellmawr Youth Basketball, and Bellmawr Hockey and has repeatedly worked on behalf of seniors to help them secure needed property tax incentives and discounts and vouchers for discounted meals. During the height of the Pandemic, Bill purchased groceries for seniors. Bill has always given back to others less fortunate and will continue doing so as Mayor. Bill will donate his Bellmawr Mayoral salary back to town organizations. He promises to work to improve the quality of life for all Bellmawr residents. Additionally, Bill founded and currently serves as president for A Better Bellmawr Independent Club, a non-profit social club for political and social activities to fund scholarships for Bellmawr students.

FUNDING HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS: For many years, Bill has created a holiday experience in his yard so others can enjoy the festivities. You may recall the large-scale inflatables celebrating the holidays or the Victorian horse and sleigh that many have used to pose in for their holiday cards. And who can forget Santa’s annual Christmas Eve visit to the Groff homestead?  Featuring free gifts, cider, hot chocolate and cookies for everyone who attends.

MENTORING YOUTH: As a contributing member of Widener University’s advisory board, Bill has worked on improving its engineering program for future students. To that end, he personally founded the first internship program at a local pharmaceutical company and plays a key role as a mentor. Since the Bellmawr School System played such a vital role in pushing him to get his education and achieve his goals, Bill shows his gratitude by being of service to others.

ANIMAL LOVER: You may have seen Bill around town, walking his three Siberian Huskies: King, Yukon, and Kodi. He’s stayed in Bellmawr where he was raised so that he can play a greater role in its future. Now it is time to elect Bill Groff to lead the movement for “A Better Bellmawr.”

Bill’s promise is to bring “Great Values for Bellmawr Residents” by listening to its residents, standing up for their needs and making a commitment to building a better, stronger Bellmawr, devoid of a political agenda.
